I am particularly proud that education at Chorister School is full of character, creativity and ambition. Numerous events this week have demonstrated this whole-heartedly! In Pre-prep, EYFS enjoyed their tooth brushing workshop and learnt all about dental hygiene. Many thanks to Mrs Cockburn for supporting this important aspect of Personal, Social and Emotional Development in EYFS. I thoroughly enjoyed the KS1 Family assembly on Tuesday afternoon; each class presented their piece with enthusiasm and confidence and it was wonderful to see the creative curriculum and literacy skills complementing each other in such an enjoyable way. On Wednesday, the Prep choir and a group of Year 6 leaders joined a video call with our Friends in Zambia at Linda Community School. The Choirs shared songs with each other and pupil leaders from both schools explained their roles and responsibilities. It was wonderful to see our donated school uniforms worn by the choir; they look incredibly smart. At Cathedral site, the House Buddy lunch was a great success with our four houses working as teams to support each other and spend time with different pupils across the age ranges. Yesterday, representatives from Treetops Children's Ward, University Hospital of North Durham joined Prep Celebration assembly to receive our cheque from the Christmas Fundraising events. We were proud to present a total of £280.50 to them; we have also donated the same amount to Save The Children for Christmas Jumper Day. Rehearsals for Ryton are in full flow! The music coming through the hallways is a joy to hear – you can catch a glimpse of Prep Choir rehearsals on my Chorister Head Instagram: @chorister.head Finally, Year 2 to 6 came together this morning for our half-term service in Durham Cathedral. A lovely opportunity to join together to reflect on the last seven weeks and consider the theme of journeys and navigating challenges. Wishing all our school community a restful break. |
