As we approach the half-term break, it is clear that this has been a long and demanding term. With assessments, competitions, and events keeping everyone busy, there is a definite sense that students (and staff!) are ready for a well-earned rest! It has been a quieter week, but there is still plenty to celebrate and look forward to. Caffinites Sport Our house is incredibly proud of our E-sports team, who competed in the regional finals in Newcastle last week, representing our school with skill, determination, and teamwork. Li Z, William P, Ethan M, Joshua M, Ethan B, and Sam B performed brilliantly against strong competition, demonstrating their dedication and strategic gameplay. A special congratulations goes to E Baker (Year 12), who was recognised as the best commentator at the event and has been invited to the Semi-finals at the National Video Game Museum in Sheffield after half-term; a fantastic achievement! Well done to the team for their efforts, and best of luck to E Baker in the next stage of the competition. Our House Ping Pong tournament is also well underway, with an impressive 26 participants entering the draw. The competition will ramp up after half-term, so we look forward to some exciting matches ahead. Sixth Form Dinner After a busy weekend of sporting events, the 6th Form Dinner was the main event on Saturday evening. It was a grand success as it attracted a large crowd of music lovers and party enthusiasts. The venue was packed with excitement and energy as after the scrumptious meal and awards ceremony, the special guest DJ took the stage and played some of the best tunes that had everyone dancing and having a great time. Other News After half-term, Year 13 students will be sitting their mock examinations. To ensure success, I encourage all Year 13's to continue revising diligently. The exam timetable has been posted on Teams by Mr. Hope, and all students sitting mock exams should review it carefully. Additionally, Year 13 students leaving school after an exam must sign in and out at the House register. As mentioned last week, our Open Morning takes place on Saturday 8th March. Each year, we ask pupils to attend School on our two Open Mornings. Pupils' roles on the days include acting as tour guides, helping in individual Departments and with clubs' displays, and welcoming visitors in the Houses. Pupils should therefore expect to be in School from 8.30am to 12.30pm. Please note that Open Morning is viewed as a school day and therefore pupils are expected to attend. If, for any reason, this is not possible, please either Mr Thompson or I know. Of course, if your child is representing the school in a sports fixture on the morning, or is a Cathedral Chorister, we will ensure that they are able to fulfil these commitments. Wishing everyone a restful break. |
