Lodge House Rowing Fundraiser

This week has been an even busier week than normal (which is hard to believe, I know) and was kicked off with the Year 11 girls (Amy, Rosie, Freya, Natalie and Grace) Sponsored Row, raising money for St Cuthbert's Hospice! The girls rowed non-stop for 3 hours; an hour for every decade the Hospice has been open, showing real grit and determination. They started off with just being them and a few supporters in the room but by the end of the session and after school it was brilliant to see the Common Room full of people from other houses, parents and teachers, all cheering the girls on to their big finish!

Whilst the girls were rowing, we danced, sang and cheered, whilst munching on the sweets the Yr 7 pupils had sourced and bagged to sell. The girls collectively rowed over 151,000 metres and raised over £1,200, including the sale of the sweets. Look out for some more videos online of their terrific effort and please visit the JustGiving page to donate:  https://www.justgiving.com/page/lodgehousesch?utm_medium=qrcode&utm_source=offline

This Week at Lodge House

Tuesday was another busy day, but for a very different reason; the A Level final Drama performance exam! Alexandra was one of the candidates involved in the final performances and she certainly shone brightly on stage. She has had an intense lead up to the performance to truly captivate her emotional character and did a brilliant job at bringing her torment and grief to life. Alex should be really proud of what she has achieved on stage this week, I know we are! Well done.

Wednesday was cookery club once again and the girls had fun, chopping, simmering, boiling and crushing as they made their Spag Bol creations! All the girls learnt something, and the majority had not made the dish before, so a great achievement all round. It is great to see them learning new and important skills in the house and even better seeing them have fun in the process! My personal favourite moment was Anna in her onion-repellent goggles! Certainly a new use for Mrs Fordyce's spare goggles! Thank you to Mrs Fordyce and Miss Black for their guidance and expertise!

Thursday saw the Year 7's take to the dance floor at the Valentines Disco! Although I think the classic girl boy divide was very much evident to start, the 6th formers helped the integration with some disco classics! The girls came back to the house full of beans (or pop and sweets!) and looking like they had had a good workout on the dance floor. Thank you to our 6th formers, Niamh, Hana, Alex, Bea and Hilda for helping out during the evening. All money from this goes towards our charity, St Cuthbert's Hospice.

Whilst the Year 7's were busting moves, the Year 11's (if they weren't tired enough!) and Year 10's were at Infinite Air on a tutor group social. The girls had a lovely evening together full of laughs, games and, of course, jumping (!). Thanks again to Miss Black for taking them.

The upcycling project has continued this week and we now have some finished projects, ranging from light, scoops, money boxes, mobiles and bird feeders! The girls have stuck into the creativity of this challenge and although some designs have gone more to plan than others, they have 100% been in charge of what they design and create, and have enjoyed doing it. Some of the girls want to keep their creations and I hope they get as much joy out of using them as we have watching them be created.

Open Morning

This term's Foundation's Open Morning takes place on Saturday, 8 March. Each year, we ask pupils to attend School on our two Open Mornings. Pupils' roles on the days include acting as tour guides, helping in individual Departments and with clubs' displays, and welcoming visitors in the Houses. Pupils should therefore expect to be in School from 8.30am to 12.30pm on 8 March. Please note that Open Morning is viewed as a school day and therefore pupils are expected to attend. If, for any reason, this is not possible, please let me know. Of course, if your child is representing the School in a sports fixture on the morning, or is a Cathedral Chorister, we will ensure that they are able to fulfil these commitments.

Lady of Lodge

It wouldn't be right if we didn't award the Yr 11 girls (Amy, Rosie, Freya, Natalie and Grace) with Lady of Lodge awards this week. Well done again for your tremendous effort on Monday!
