Our penultimate week of term has seen the fantastic performance of 'Prickly Hay' by Year 1 and 2. A wonderful retelling of the nativity story through songs and dances. All of the children participated with such energy and enthusiasm and their enjoyment shone through their confident performance. This morning, we have seen the first performance of the Prep Christmas concert; an incredibly impressive showcase of music making through a wide genre of pieces. The involvement of so many children is a testament to the music provision at Chorister School and while music gets squeezed out of many school curriculums, it most definitely sits at the heart of ours with many inclusive opportunities alongside the talent pathways. Both performances were incredibly heart-warming, and my thanks go to all of the staff involved for their support and encouragement of the children. Next week I look forward to sharing the results of the second leg of our House Rugby and Hockey competitions. All the children will receive a Christmas treat, courtesy of The Friends of DCSF - Years 1 to 6 will visit the Gala Theatre in Durham for "Jack and the Beanstalk" and Pre-prep will have a special visitor at their end of term parties. Not forgetting Christmas lunches, the EYFS Christmas trip to Gibside and our DCSF Carol Service on Friday. Best wishes for the weekend ahead. |
