Poole House
Friday, 5 December 2025

A wonderful week in the house kicked off in style on Monday evening. The Year 13 monitors took the Year 7 Pooleites out for tea to Inshangai. It was a great opportunity for the boys to mix and enjoy each other's company while having a lovely meal. It was pleasing to see the youngest and oldest members of the house getting along so well. Thank you, Mrs Thompson, for organising the evening.

The Feeling of Christmas is in the air, and it has been brilliant to see the boys start to plan their upcoming House suppers. I will share more information on this in next week's flyer. The school is collecting Christmas food for "Feeding Families". Father Simon asked me to pass on the following message:

"I am pleased to announce that we are collecting food items for the local charity "Feeding Families" again this year. This is to provide essential food to local families who will be struggling this Christmas. With that in mind, please bring food items from the list below to your House over the coming days. House Charity Reps will then bring the food items over to Caffs for collection on Monday, 8th December. For more information, go to https://feedingfamilies.org.uk/christmas/

Please only bring items off the list. If you have any questions, please speak to your House Charity Reps, me or Ms. S. Meadows. Thank you for your help. All donations make a difference."

Charity Information

We will be pushing the boys to start planning some activities which they can be sponsored for. We will be raising money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, a local charity which provides special education, care, support, accommodation, and lifelong learning for people with disabilities. More information on the wonderful work they do may be found on their website here; https://www.percyhedley.org.uk/. Keep an eye out for the events the boys have planned, and please do support the boys with this.

Sports Focus

Report written by Ethan J

The Durham Central Schools Cross Country took place on Tuesday at Durham Johnston. All pupils ran incredibly well in the cold and windy conditions.

There were numerous standout performances, and several pupils qualified for the county competition next term, including:

Oliver J

Well done to all that took part.

In the boat club, three crews travelled up to the Tyne and braved the elements at Rutherford Head this weekend. The Senior Boys, including William C, finished a respectable 4th in the J18 coxless quads. James C and Ethan J also placed 6th in the Open Men's quads. These were promising performances, and a solid end to the first block of winter training.
