The Caffinites
Friday, 5 December 2025

This week has been another action-packed one for sport across the school, with pupils from a range of year groups demonstrating commitment, resilience and an impressive competitive spirit. Our rugby teams have continued their busy run of fixtures, taking to the field with determination and showcasing excellent teamwork. The standard of play has been consistently high, and it has been encouraging to see pupils supporting one another, adapting to challenges, and showing pride in representing the school, as well as the House.

A particularly exciting milestone was reached this week as our basketball team took part in their first ever competitive match. Congratulations go to Ciaran C., Archie E, Sam N, Elliot P, Will R, and Sammy W. (Year 11). Their teamwork and positive attitude throughout the match set an excellent foundation, and I look forward to seeing the team flourish in the coming months.

Once again, I am also delighted to celebrate an outstanding achievement at the national level. Ajay has been selected for the England camp to represent the U19s. I wish him every success in the coming weeks.

In addition to team success, this week also brings recognition in a very different arena. Oliver B. (Year 7) has enjoyed a remarkable season with his ponies, competing with great skill and composure. As the image below shows, Oliver's efforts have resulted in an impressive collection of rosettes, trophies, and points; each representing not only competitive success but also early mornings, dedication, and careful preparation. His performances have clearly captured the attention of judges throughout the season, and he should be extremely proud of his achievements.

Important: Please can all Year 7 to 9 pupils be picked up by 4.30pm unless they are waiting for school transport, as we need to prepare the House for the Suppers. If this is a problem, please let me know.

Years 11-13: Pupils will meet in the House to prepare for the Suppers at 4.30pm. No pupils will be allowed off-site between the end of the school day and the start of the event. Therefore, could I please ask that your son brings either a dinner or a plain black suit with a red bow tie for the evening? Normal school uniform will be sufficient should there be any problems obtaining the above. In addition to this, school uniform will also be needed for academic lessons throughout the day.

Year 10 pupils only – pupils will be required to wear school uniform with a red a bow tie in the evening. If obtaining a red bow tie, then a Caffs tie will be fine, however, Amazon has some great offers on at the moment.

The evening will end at 9.45pm for pupils in Years 10 and 11, and at 10.00pm for pupils in Years 12 and 13. Collection will be from Houses.

Friday 19th December

School as normal, but there will be no chapel, and pupils will return to the House at the end of period 5. We all need to be seated in the Cathedral by 5.15pm. Smart school uniform should be worn.

5:30 pm - 6:30 pm: Carol Service in the Cathedral. Parents and friends are very welcome to attend the Carol Service. If you wish to collect your son directly from the Cathedral, please let Mr. Thompson or myself know via email.

Please note that this is a compulsory school event, and all pupils are expected to attend.

The House will close for the holidays at 7pm. Studies and lockers need to be emptied for deep cleaning and routine maintenance, so all belongings need to be taken home.

Have a great weekend.
