This week in LWE (Life & Wellbeing Education) Tutor Time, students continued to develop one of our key G.R.O.W.T.H. points: 'Resilience', with a particular focus on building healthy support networks. Through guided discussion and reflective activities, pupils explored how recognising and using the right people, places and strategies around them can help them manage challenges, recover from setbacks and feel more confident in times of difficulty. Students were encouraged to consider who or what helps them cope when things feel tough. Responses ranged from friends and family to teachers, coaches, routines and safe spaces, helping students understand that a 'support network' is made up of both people and practical strategies. Tutors reinforced that resilience is not about avoiding struggle, but about knowing when and how to seek support, and that strong networks play a crucial role in sustaining wellbeing. During the main activity, students explored what makes a healthy support network, discussing the importance of trust, reliability, positivity and clear boundaries. KS3 students focused on identifying trusted adults and school-based support, while KS5 students reflected on more independent support systems, including managing academic pressure and self-advocacy. Pupils then created their own "Support Network Maps", placing themselves at the centre and identifying individuals and resources they could turn to, thoughtfully considering any areas where their network could be strengthened. The sessions concluded with a resilience reflection, where students identified one practical action they could take to enhance their support network this week, from starting a conversation to checking in with a trusted adult or peer. This thoughtful and reflective work reinforces our message that resilience is built through connection, and that knowing who stands beside you is a powerful step towards personal growth and wellbeing within our school community. . ![]() |
