Earlier this week, we received photos from OD John Gillette (P, 1980–85) and his wife, Joanne, who run the Zambezi Sunrise Trust, a charity supporting education in Zambia through school building initiatives. 

Thanks to fundraising by the girls of Lodge House, new sewing machines have been provided for the Tiyese ('Let's Try') Craft Initiative, a women's empowerment group supported by the Trust in Livingstone. 

In a Facebook post, the Trust expressed their gratitude to Durham School and Lodge House: "We, and they, are hugely grateful to the girls of Lodge House, Durham School, who raised the funds for the machines last term. A hand-powered machine (a first for the group, which some of the ladies will find easier to use) was delivered, as well as another pedal-powered machine. Both will be a great help to the group moving forward – we're looking forward to seeing what's produced!"
