What a week! Snow, ice, singing, donuts, netball, Langley service, craft fair planning! This week has flown by and despite the disruption caused by the snow House Music went ahead with a full complement of singers. It was a wonderful evening in the school chapel, and I am so proud of what the girls achieved. We may be a small House, but we can sing! We finished second overall, only 1.5 points behind the overall winners, Poole House. The highlight of the night for many was our part-song. I had so many teachers come up and ask me to tell the girls how well they did. So it is only fitting that they all get a shout out; Hilda (conducted, arranged, piano), Natalie, Amy, Rosie, Freya, Grace, Alena, Florence, Isobel, Lola, Isla, Luna and Evie. I have attended House Music for a long time now and I have never heard a song performed as beautifully as they performed "The winner takes it all" on Wednesday evening. A moving and haunting performance which, quite rightly, was given first place in the part-song competition. I have shared my video of the song with the girls on Teams so if any parents want to have a look and listen then just ask your daughter for a peek. It will be well worth it. It is also worth shining a spotlight on the newly discovered talents of Dr Hughes. He joined the staff group on Wednesday as they performed "Don't Stop Believing" to much cheering and applause. If the teaching thing doesn't work out, he could go start a band! On Thursday, our Head of House, Lilly, monitor Hilda and I attended the Langley service in the cathedral. This annual service gives thanks to Bishop Langley and all he did for our community. On Friday, we turned our attention to the upcoming craft fair and started discussing our preparations. There are a variety of after school activities taking place between now and the 12th of December to help us create stock. First up is candle making on Wednesday 26th November. Several sporting fixtures suffered because of the weather but as I write the U12 girls are about to play a match against St Leonard's. I hope it goes well for them. Well done to all of the girls for their hard work and House spirit this week. I hope they have a restful weekend. ![]() |
