House Music Heroics

While it might have been a typical cold, wintry Wednesday night in November, House Music was just what was needed to bring some warmth, energy and fun. The standard of the competition was excellent, and it was great to see the whole school taking part and really enjoying it. But it was even better to see the boys' reaction when Poole was announced as overall winner! Our part song, a version of Queen's 'Radio Gaga', was cleverly put together with the harmonies combining the different ranges of voices from Year 7 to Sixth Form very effectively. With James C's charismatic conducting, encouraging audience participation, it was a great watch, and not just because of the excellent moustaches, though they quite rightly got a mention in the judging! Then the unison song, a fantastic rendition of 'It Must Be Love' by Madness, was a brilliant team effort, with passionate singing and unforgettable choreography ably led by John and Zac. It was 2012 when Poole last won House Music and there was quite a lot of discussion in the House about who had not even been born at that point! The whole evening was a brilliant example of the House coming together and everyone playing their part and the celebrations were epic - well done to all involved!

Mr Madigan, Janice, and I would like to invite all parents for an early Christmas drink in Poole House on December 5th between 18.30 and 20.30. It will be a lovely opportunity to meet with you all in a less formal setting and celebrate what I am sure will have been an excellent term.

Charity information

We will be pushing the boys to start planning some activities which they can be sponsored for. We will be raising money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, a local charity which provides special education, care, support, accommodation, and lifelong learning for people with disabilities. More information on the wonderful work they do may be found on their website here; https://www.percyhedley.org.uk/. Keep an eye out for the events the boys have planned, and please do support the boys with this.
