From the Headmistress of Chorister School
Friday, 14 November 2025

Odd Socks Day and our Wellbeing Ambassador Assembly on Monday provided a wonderful launch to Anti-Bullying Week. This year's theme, Power for Good, has been evident throughout the school, with kindness shown in both words and actions. My message in Prep Assembly this morning reflected the aim of the week: that every act of kindness—big or small—shows the kindness you carry in your heart.

On Tuesday, the whole school came together for our Remembrance Service led by Father Simon. This was a very special occasion, observed with great respect by all. Our Brass Band, featuring pupils from Prep, Senior School and staff, contributed beautifully to the service with moving performances of Nimrod, The Last Post, and The Reveille.

The week has also included a range of other events, such as the Year 6 trip to the Sunderland Empire to see The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and our House Aeroplane Competition. This afternoon, we look forward to the U11 Rugby and Hockey Festivals, and our Boy Choristers are preparing for their team weekend at Barrington House.

Lumiere has brought some organisational challenges over the last two days, but pupils and staff have shown great flexibility, and school life has continued smoothly over at Durham School. Thank you for your support and prompt responses regarding collection arrangements. End of day information is vital in helping us ensure that every child is safely accounted for at the end of each day.

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend ahead.
