Poole House
Friday, 14 November 2025

Winter has arrived this week. However, the wet weather has not dampened the spirits of the boys in the house. House music rehearsals have ramped up this week, and we now sound like a world class choir. I am sure of an amazing performance next week. The competition this year is being held in the Chapel and starts at 18.00. All boys are expected to attend and must remain on site after school. The boys can be collected after the event, which is estimated to end at around 20.15-20.30.

Mr Madigan, Janice, and I would like to invite all parents for an early Christmas drink in Poole House on December 5th between 18.30 and 20.30. It will be a lovely opportunity to meet with you all in a less formal setting and celebrate what I am sure will have been an excellent term.

Lumiere has arrived in Durham for what is believed to be the last time; all the boarders will be going over the weekend to take in the fantastic light installations across Durham. Fingers crossed the weather doesn't ruin the occasion.

This week, our Year 7 boys have been writing postcards to the boys and girls in Poole House, Dubai. Please see the photo attached of our boys receiving a postcard from our friends in Dubai.

Charity information

We will be pushing the boys to start planning some activities which they can be sponsored for. We will be raising money for the Percy Hedley Foundation, a local charity which provides special education, care, support, accommodation, and lifelong learning for people with disabilities. More information on the wonderful work they do may be found on their website here; https://www.percyhedley.org.uk/. Keep an eye out for the events the boys have planned, and please do support the boys with this.
