Pimlico House

It was a real pleasure to see all parents and guardians who could make last week's drinks. Thank you for coming along.

Anti-Bullying Week

Whilst the emphasis, over the past five days, has been on 'the power for good', Anti-Bullying week naturally calls to mind the bleaker side of human behaviour. We have been reminded in chapel talks and through activities of the devastation bullying can inflict on the individual and of the effect it can cause in communities. 'The silent bystander' has also been discussed and we have been reminded of the role we all play in preventing and stopping bullying. Inevitably, since the topic is not a happy one and maybe also because of the weather, the lights this week seem to have dimmed.

Lumière

It's a happy coincidence then that Lumière began yesterday: As our Pimlico girls visit the glittering, twinkling displays, I hope they make connections. The Lights of Lumière are fun and make us smile. Their glow provides a warming comfort as the winter approaches. Since we visit them in groups, they bring us together and they create for us a shared interest. The spectacle lights up the gloomy November landscape and forces us to see the city with new eyes. Indeed, the transforming power and positivity of light shown in Lumière stand as a metaphor for how we might live. In Anti-Bullying Week, especially, can we learn from it?

House Music

Recent Pimlico rehearsals for House music have been edging away from basic singing and more towards detail, although one can never be complacent. However, girls seemed to have worked hard on both songs recently, and I wish them well. Our hockey and netball players have also been progressing well with first teams, in particular, making some important breakthroughs. I hope the weather improves for them before too long.

Finally, our Friday fun award this week went to Sylvia W for being so welcoming towards new girls.

Before I wish you a happy weekend, please remember that next Wednesday (19th) November, day girls finish school at 20.30. They will be given dinner before House Music begins. Thank you for your understanding.
