As the half term draws to a close the boys in School House can look back on what has been an excellent term. While it has certainly been busy, the boys have still managed to create a very positive and friendly atmosphere, making the house a brilliant place to be. This half term is always a tough one, so to see such energy this morning speaks volumes for them all. To round off the term, we gave a rousing rendition of 'Summer of 69' and I am sure the boys will keep momentum over the summer!

Year 10 Social

Year 10 were in the house after school last night for a Dominos and a catch up. As always, the boys were on great form and offered their own, quite unique, perspective on school and current affairs!

Sports

As I type, the Year 7 boys are eating their Pasta Brunch before travelling to Billingham to play St Peters York- I hope the games went well. It was a mixed bag of results for our senior boys up at Merchistan Castle last weekend. I think it's probably fair to say that the boys experienced every emotion attached to playing high-level sport, with some excellent rugby on display, as well as some completely uncharacteristic mistakes! With the 175 Celebrations this weekend, the boys have the chance to finish the half term on a high.

I have noticed from across the office that members of the boat club have been ordering Boat Club blazers with Mr Bryant. I mention this as the blazers are not only very smart but hugely sought after, and it is lovely to see the rowers wear them with pride (and so many want to buy them!).

Music

Bungites continues to be the epicentre of vocal excellence in the Common Room most days and the boys are starting to get everything together. Simon C has the boys in good shape and I look forward to seeing how the different elements come together. We also had The Scholars' Concert this week with some superb performances from our musicians. I managed to catch some of the performances with Robbie S and Jack C impressing.

A sad goodbye to one of our own

This week we said goodbye to Mrs Margaret Matthews (Grandmother of Bungites Fergus and Lucas F) who sadly passed away a few weeks ago. In what was a lovely service, Mrs Matthews' love of the boys and their endeavours here in school shone through, and she was often here supporting the boys and their teammates. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Foster Family and Mrs Matthews will be a huge miss around school.

Charity

Keep an eye on House Comms for Movember information. If you are able to, do please Mo with us and I will share staff and pupil progress on our house Social Media. Confidence is high amongst many of the seniors that they will achieve Mo immortality in what they grow... I am not sharing the same optimism, but I wish them luck. Staff are in the mix too, with similar levels determination and optimism. Imagine being a member of staff with a lesser Mo than a senior boy... ouch! I will set up our donation page when we return from half term and get the ball rolling with our main fundraising day.

Housekeeping

With it being the end of term, my usual plea to encourage the boys to bring any worn games kit or perishable food home with them. We will be chasing them tomorrow to try and support this. The house closes at 4:30pm for half term and reopens for Boarders on Sunday 2nd November at 5:00pm.

Finally, a massive thank your for all of your support of the boys this term.
