It's been a busy week. Between pumpkins and parties, trips and House hockey, we have crammed a lot into only 5 days. On Monday we had our awards service in chapel. It was lovely to see so many of the Lodge girls getting awards for everything from most lauds to chemistry Olympiads, LAMDA awards and music grades. It really highlighted the diversity of our talents. Also on Monday, Year 8s won their round of House Hockey. On Tuesday the Year 9 & 10s fought hard to finish second in their round. On Wednesday, the Year 7s ended up in a draw and narrowly lost out to Macleod in a penalty shoot out to decide the winner. With the seniors scheduled to play after half-term we are sitting second in the overall standings and only 5 points behind Macleod. No pressure Years 11-13! On Wednesday, we had pumpkin carving after school. Open to anyone, it was lovely to see a mix of ages taking part, further strengthening our community. There are some very creative pumpkins on display, and they were used as part of the decorations for Thursday's Halloween party. Our Halloween party was a lot of fun, with over half of the House coming along. With me and Miss Black in full witch mode, we conjured up some tricks and treats! Well done to Calli for best individual costume, Emily and Joey for best pair and Freya, Rosie, Amy and Grace for best group costume. We have finished the week with our now annual "House Hunt." Last year it was little ducks in witches' hats. This year, the House were hunting for ghosts during House time. With our singing practices, I ran out of time to do Lady of Lodge last week so this week it's a double celebration. Firstly, to our fabulous Head of House, Lilly, who has shown real bravery and a positive attitude in some challenging times. She is truly leading by example. Secondly, to Lola W, Year 9, who came in to school despite being ill to play House hockey with the Y9 and 10s. It's a shining example of the community and spirit we have built. Bon voyage to those off to Poland this weekend for the RS, History and Psychology trip. I hope you have a good time with Miss Black. To everyone else, have a restful two weeks off. We return to school on Monday 3rd November and our Open House for all parents is on Friday the 7th November. #WithBraveWingsSheFlies ![]() |
