I can't quite believe that there is just one week to go until half term. The girls have been getting excited about House Music over the last couple of weeks, the theme this year is 80's. The competition will be held on the evening of Wednesday 19th November in Chapel. Our House Song is Heaven is a place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle and our Part Song is Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson. My thanks go to Lottie and the Sixth Form Team who are masterminding our title defence this year!

A number of girls have signed up to be part of a variety of School Committees this term:

School Council – Dana (Year 10) 

Food Group – Dana (Year 10) 

Junior Peer Mentors – Nadia (Year 8), Hannah (Year 8), Lottie H (Year 8) and Isla G (Year 9) 

These groups serve as an excellent opportunity to be involved in school life and the Junior Peer Mentors will undergo specific training from Ms Thompson and Ms Abbott much like the Senior Peer Mentors who are already in post. Well done for getting involved girls! 

Open Morning – TOMORROW

We look forward to welcoming lots of prospective families to Durham School tomorrow and particularly to MacLeod. My thanks in advance to those girls who will be based in MacLeod to show off everything brilliant about our House and to all the girls who will be taking part in various roles during the morning as tour guides or in academic departments. 

Year 9 Social 

The Year 9 girls enjoyed ordering pizza and spending time together on Wednesday evening. It was a great opportunity for the girls to get together and have fun with the Sixth Form Prefects.

Year 12 Parents Evening – Tuesday 14th October 

A reminder for Year 12 parents that your daughter's parents evening is next Tuesday from 6pm. Half Term Collection A friendly reminder about collection on the day we break up for October Half Term, Friday 17th October. We have our half term chapel service at Durham Cathedral – it is a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to come together in such a spectacular building. Parents are welcome to attend. We will all return to the house at approximately 4pm so the girls can gather their belongings and be collected - MacLeod will close at 4.30pm latest, please ensure your daughter can be collected by that time and the school bus will go early at 4.30pm from the quad too.

Wednesday 19th November – House Music Competition (Chapel) Timings TBC but it will be in the evening, no parents this year due to being hosted in the Chapel 

Tuesday 25th November – Year 11 Social (4.30-6pm), Year 10 Parents Evening (6pm)

Thursday 4th December – MacLeod Parents Mulled Wine and Mince Pies Event (5-6.15pm) 

Monday 8th December – Christmas Charity Bake Sale
