Tomorrow is of course, our main Open Day and we are looking forward to welcoming a fantastic number of visiting families to Durham School in advance of Open Week from Monday at Choristers. Whilst this is clearly an important event for obvious reasons, it serves equally as a superb showcase for the pupils to demonstrate their interests, abilities, and talents across all aspects of School life. Members of staff are on hand as front of house, but it is the pupil guides who will have the greatest impact. I am confident that our visitors will leave with two overriding impressions: first, of how much the pupils enjoy being at School and all that this means; secondly, of the humble confidence that allows them to engage willingly and openly with all. Earlier this week, the GCSE Drama pupils explored the theme of 'big issues' through movement, dialogue, and sound, showcasing collaboration, creativity, and emotional storytelling in theatre, and all are to be commended on their splendid performances. Looking ahead, next Wednesday is the Music Scholars' Recital, which will equally exhibit talent and dedicated preparation. I do hope you can join us. I offer my best wishes for the weekend and to all those participating in the Merchiston tournament. |
