The Caffinites
Friday, 10 October 2025

It is hard to believe we only have five days left in this half-term, and life in The Caffinites House shows no signs of slowing down. Many pupils, as well as the House Staff, are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming two-week break!

House Music

House Music continues to be at the forefront of our activities, with full house rehearsals taking place on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Although the competition will be held in November, the House will perform the well-known 80s song, I'm Still Standing by Elton John. Additionally, the pupils involved in the part song will be singing the iconic Tears for Fears hit, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World". I look forward to seeing how both songs progress in the weeks leading up to the competition.

New Pupil Interviews

Next week, we will conduct interviews for our new pupils. In the past, these interviews have revealed some incredibly positive reflections about the House. My aim is to ensure that every new pupil has the opportunity to share their experiences from their first term with the House staff. It is always a fantastic chance to meet each pupil individually and to gain a deeper understanding of group dynamics.

House Council representatives will also be selected next week, and they will meet after half term. This is a great opportunity for nominated pupils to meet and discuss ways to improve the House. These suggestions will then be presented to the School Council in the following weeks. This allows students to have their voices heard, which I believe is essential for fostering a sense of community and encouraging an active role in enhancing both their House and school.

Open Day

Tomorrow is Open Day, and it is shaping up to be a fantastic morning, with over 94 families registered across the Foundation. Pupil lists have been shared on Microsoft Teams and Ms Thompson, and a copy has also been posted above the sign-out folder at the front of the House. If selected, pupils will need to be in full school uniform. Can I kindly remind pupils that they need to be in school, wearing full uniform, by 8:45 am, unless prior arrangements have been made with Mr. Thompson or myself. Prospective parent tours will begin at 9:00am.

End of Term Information

As we approach the end of this half-term, I have a few important announcements Our Cathedral service will begin at 3:00pm, and I warmly invite parents to join us for this special occasion. After the service, I ask that lockers be emptied and all belongings taken home. This is a great chance to tidy up and ensure a fresh start when we return in November.

Please note that the House will officially close at 4:30pm, so I ask that you coordinate your pick-up arrangements accordingly. For those using school transport, buses will depart from the senior site at 4:30pm.

Finally, the lost property bag is once again starting to fill up. Could I please ask you to check that your son has all of their uniform, sports kit and bags as there are a number of items that remained unnamed. Could I also ask that all items of clothing and bags are named appropriately so that we easily return items that are handed in.

Have a great weekend,

Mr. A McMillan
