It's been a whirlwind of a week in Lodge, and I, for one, am looking forward to a quiet weekend! We kicked off the week with our bake sale. Thank you to all of the girls and parents who baked up some delicious treats. I don't know who made the coffee cupcakes, but I thought they were amazing. Recipe please! We raised over £100 for Stray Aid in Coxhoe, and there will be more to come as we plan a whole House charity event. If you would like to donate to the charity, the QR code for our Just Giving page is below, or you can donate here. Just Giving for Lodge House. Following last week's announcement of the 80s theme for House Music, this week we have finalised our song choices and a lot of girls have auditioned for a place in the part-song group. The quality of the auditions was fantastic, and Hilda and Lilly had a hard time whittling it down to the 14 people they are allowed. The final competition will take place after half-term, so they've got plenty of time to warm up those vocal cords and find their perfect harmony! Events There are two upcoming events for the girls to get involved with. Firstly, on Wednesday 15th October, we will be doing a pumpkin carving evening. The girls need to sign up on the sheet in the common room, and it costs £2. Everything we carve on the Wednesday will then be used for the second event. On Thursday 16th October we are holding a Lodge Halloween party. This event if free to attend but we do need to know numbers for catering. Again, there is a sheet in the common room to sign up on. There will be a disco, fancy dress competitions for best individual costume, best pair and best group costumes. We will also have food and drink and some Halloween themed games to play. Lady of Lodge Lady of Lodge this week goes to two people. Both have shown House spirit this week and in the end we couldn't split them. Our Year 7s have settled into school and House life really well and Miss Black and I have noticed all of the things they are getting involved in. This week the awards go to Hannah S who made cakes for all dietary requirements for the bake sale, and she gave up a lot of her time to help sell the cakes. And Evie P, who has shown us her musical side this week and auditioned for part-song, being the only Year 7 to secure a spot from the competitive field including older pupils. Finally, a reminder that it is Open Morning on Saturday 11th October. If your daughter is unable to attend then I require an email as soon as possible. Thank you to the few that I have already had emails from. Have a lovely weekend, ![]() |
