If anyone has seen the weather forecast this week you will have seen the warnings of storm approaching bringing strong winds and heavy rain to much of the Country. My issue with this is that it feels we have had this calibre of weather for weeks so there must be some kind of sun kissed utopia on the Southwest Coast that never sees the weather we do! This being said, please do keep an eye out for any cancellations with racing/fixtures. We will always aim to do this in good time, while giving sport every chance to go ahead. A heads up, next weekend is Open Morning with many of the boys involved. While we appreciate the school run on a Saturday morning is not ideal I am extremely grateful for your time and the boys'. As you all know, the pupils are the best ambassadors for our school and I hope all asked to come in are able to attend. Rugby QEGS Wakefield block fixture was played on Saturday. 1st XV and 2nd XV came away winners with Titus O and Dan C standout players for the 1st team and Pardeep L captained the 2nd team in another strong performance. The U14a and U15s had tough fixtures narrowly losing out, Robbie S putting in an inspired performance. The U14s put in a top performance against Dundee High midweek running out easy winners in the end, Bungnites dominating the field again. The U13's played well on Thursday, a lot of lessons learnt in a tough set of fixtures. Rowing Bungnites raced at South Hylton at the weekend Justus M, Matthew W and Jason W all racing well in the single. Nicky W and Johnny M came away with fastest boat of the day in the J18 4x . Great day of racing for all the boys involved. Lauds Albie A, Kayode A, Adam A, Rupert A, Ethan B. Music This morning was our first full House rehearsal for House Music and, as always, what we lack in musicality we more than make up for in volume! We have 96 of the most varied voices from across the teenage years in the house so getting them to sound anywhere near in unison is a challenge. My thanks go to Simon C, Pardeep L and Andrew S for their efforts and patience with the boys. The fact every boy in the house sings makes it a really special competition for us and one we always try hard to do our best in. Massive well done to all of the boys listed above. Charity This week I signed us up to the Movember Charity following a disrupted year last year. Lots more information to follow as we get closer to November with Zac H and Pardeep L fronting up this terms fundraising. Hoodies/T Shirts The boys have been asking about house hoodies and/or some t-shirts (other house themed items have been mooted but I would rather not mention those!). I am hoping to get some info together soon and would like to tie this into our Movember fundraising. Housekeeping It has been a fairly settled week in the house from a house keeping perspective with my only gripe being the smell of damp kit, shoes, bags, Macbooks, folders, textbooks etc! After all these years, I still cannot fully appreciate how the brain of a teenage boy can detach itself from where it last placed a bag so quickly. Withing minutes the boys have absolutely no idea where they left their kit and appear at my office with zero clues. A thank you... After over 5 years as Deputy Housemaster, Mr Bryant is stepping down from the role and I thank him wholeheartedly for all the support that he has given both myself and, more importantly, the boys over those years. Mr Bryant has the enviable ability of being able to find common ground with all of the boys and I thank him for his consistently excellent work over the years. He will remain as a tutor in the house as well as part of the evening duty team. More information to follow on who will pick up the reins in the next couple of weeks. I wish you all a very restful weekend. |
