I can't quite believe we are over halfway through this half term now with only 3 weeks left until the 2 week break. This is often the time where pupils start to feel a little run down. As ever, we will be keeping the energy up in MacLeod and supporting the girls. It has been wonderful to see the number of Lauds flooding in across the year groups for both academic and pastoral reasons based around our MARK values. However, we have received a number of sanction points across all year groups, mainly for uniform violations (wearing North Face or branded coats, not wearing blazers, wearing bracelets, too many earrings and skirts which are rolled or too short). Please can we remind parents to reinforce the uniform policy at home, particularly the points about coats and skirts being of appropriate length. Huge congratulations to Lola in Year 11 who won the 1.10m class at the Horse of the Year Show last weekend. Faye, also in Year 11, deserves our warm congratulations, following her performance at the British Rowing Championships she has been selected for the first phase of the British representation process. These are both super achievements and we are incredibly proud of them. Well done, girls! House Art Competition We have been blown away with the entries from the girls; such a variety of styles with the dominant colour obviously being green! All the entries will be displayed in the common room which will really brighten the place up and leave a lasting stamp on MacLeod. Dr Alderson judged the girls' competition which was incredibly tough! Congratulations to our winners: 1st place: Evie G (Year 10) 2nd place: Darcy H (Year 11) 3rd place: Lotte S (Year 10) The staff also contributed to the competition with some hidden talents certainly being revealed. Thank you to Mrs Swan, Mrs Gowland and Mrs Thompson who added to my attempt! The girls have been voting for their favourite and quite unbelievably, there was a tie for 1st place: Joint Winners: Mrs Gowland and Mrs Thompson Valiant 2nd place: Mrs Swan Wooden Spoon: Mrs Myers-Bruin Sixth Form Social TONIGHT! We are looking forward to our Sixth Form Social this evening, it may well be in full flow by the time you are reading this. The infamous cheese and wine night always include some very competitive games and much laughter between the year groups. This time the girls have been able to invite friends from Lodge and Pimlico which enhances our connections between the girls in other houses. Bake Sale and Fundraising Thank you to all of those girls who donated cakes, brownies and cookies on Monday for our charity bake sale. We have raised almost £150 for the Winnie Mabaso Foundation. You will see from the calendar that we have a bake sale each half term until Easter, each with a different theme from now (Christmas, Valentine's and Easter). We will also be doing another form of fundraising event at some point this year which is yet to be decided upon. We welcome ideas from the girls about this.
