Up to full speed now, the term is certainly keeping Pimlico girls busy. Chitty rehearsals have started, hockey and netball fixtures fill numerous diary pages, and those in exam years are jumping through the hoops of frequent tests in their different subjects. To add to this, the words 'House music' have begun to vibrate through the airwaves, and girls are also planning their fundraising activities, either as individuals or tutor groups. Pimlico Fundraising Speaking of which, in trying to combine Pimlico's love of animals and desire to support a local cause, Stray Aid has been selected as our chosen charity for the term. The charity rescues and rehomes stray and abandoned dogs and cats in the Northeast, providing health care until such time as they can be rehomed. With the aim of raising at least £1500 this term, girls need to get going with their efforts. Some may decide to be sponsored for a particular activity, (No tech-Tuesday; A Day of Silence; A 10k run are some ideas already mooted) and others may choose to sell things. Year 9 are already planning a craft sale and, as a whole House, we will host an Autumn Cake Sale on Monday, 6th October. Please note that the House would be very grateful for as many cake contributions as possible that day. The theme is 'Autumn' and all cakes must be clearly labelled with their ingredients. No nuts, please. Our charity website is here, but girls may also approach parents, friends and relatives with their own, tutor-group, page linked to this. Thank you in advance for your support, encouragement and generosity towards Pimlico's chosen cause. https://www.justgiving.com/page/pimlico-house-25 Weekends continue to provide the space and time for boarders to relax in each other's company. Last Saturday was particularly convivial as Erica's birthday celebration, featuring cake, balloons, music and dancing (of course!), morphed into a rather impromptu talent show. Thank you to Nina for her exceptional display of Georgian character dancing, to Clara for an acapella rendition of a Mozart aria and to Rosalind for her flute solo. I trust boarders will enjoy their trip to the beach just as much, this coming Sunday. Congratulations this week go to Sophie S, Ava and Evie S for their part in 1st team hockey. The U18s came in second in their Durham Area Tournament and should certainly be commended for such a strong start to the season. I was also delighted to hear that Rosalind was awarded 'player of the match' for the U13s last Saturday – another great start! Further good news concerns Nico and Anna B who successfully completed their Mental Health and Bullying training with the Anti-Bullying Alliance, receiving official recognition for this only yesterday. Having always shown themselves to be caring, effective and committed in their roles as peer mentors, they certainly deserve this. Finally, a big shout out to our Friday fun winner, Ella, for gaining the highest number of lauds so far this term.
