This week marked the return of darker mornings and evenings with the inevitable arrival of autumn. Despite the change in weather, the boys' spirits remain high, and I have been impressed by their continued enthusiasm and drive. House Music House Music has been the main topic of conversation, with the boys dedicating significant time to deciding which songs to perform - the theme this year is the 80s! This event is always fiercely contested in the school calendar, as each house must perform both a unison piece and a part song. Mr. Thompson and I were extremely impressed with the enthusiasm shown last year, and we very much look forward to this year's competition. The event will be held on 17th November. As Mr. Thompson mentioned last week, UCAS applications are well underway, with pupils and teachers working hard to meet the upcoming deadlines. Elite applications are due before the half-term break, and we wish all pupils the very best in their academic endeavors. House Council Nominations House Council will resume in the next couple of weeks, with nominations for representatives being made next week from each tutor group. Selected pupils will meet before half-term to discuss ways to improve the House, and their ideas will then be presented to the School Council. This process allows pupils to voice their opinions and play an active role in enhancing both their house and the wider school community. Caffinites Sport On the rugby field, congratulations to Ajay E (Year 13) on his selection for the England U18 team for the upcoming autumn fixtures. This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to his talent and hard work. Well done, Ajay! Open Day Open Day will be held on Saturday 11th October, and it is shaping up to be a fantastic morning, with many families registering their interest in the foundation. Pupil lists will be circulated on Microsoft Teams in due course, and a copy will also be placed on the wall above the signing-out folder at the front of the House. I would like to remind parents that any pupils selected to represent the school should be in school (in full school uniform) from 9.00 am, unless prior arrangements have been made with Mr. Thompson or myself. Stay Connected I am excited to share that The Caffinites now have an Instagram page. It is very much a work in progress, but in time it will feature news, photos, and highlights from across the House. Please do give it a follow and keep an eye out for upcoming updates. This includes not parking on the double yellow lines on Quarry heads Lane or Grove Street and not blocking the drive around the house. Inappropriate or unsafe parking can lead to congestion and pose significant risks to the safety of pupils and other pedestrians. As ever, day pupils are welcome to stay on site until 6.30pm each weekday allowing parents and carers to stagger collection times. Have a great weekend, |
