Here we are at the end of the penultimate week of the 2024-2025 Academic Year. The boys are quite simply 'done' with academic lessons and their thoughts have certainly turned to all of the fun activities next week! I know for many readers, next week will be quite an emotional one and I hope those leaving have many fond memories of their time at Durham (more of that next week!).

Bungites Sport

Last weekend was the Boat Club Dinner with Jason W (Crew of the Year) and Mathew W (Oarsperson of the year) amongst the prize winners.

Just want to give a special shout out to Rowan B who scored a century for the 1st XI on Wednesday afternoon. It was great to watch and absolutely outstanding timing from Mum who cam around the corner when Rowan was on 96 and was there to see the century making shot (which was a cracker!)

Boarding

Thank you to parents and Guardians who have shared travel plans for the end of term and return dates if applicable. In fairness, the boys have been great in terms of packing and getting organised. Our store actually looks quite tidy!

Charity

School House needs your help, kindness and drive!

On Thursday 3rd July, myself, the staff and the vast majority of the boys in School House will be heading up to Broomside Bungalow Residential Home in Belmont. The Bungalow is home to 4 adults who are cared for 24/7 by an amazing team of support workers. One of the 4 adults is Mrs Heeley's son, Cameron. Cameron is 27 years old with profound difficulties but has an unrelenting energy for life.

As a House, we are aiming to completely revamp the outside space so that Cameron, and his friends, can enjoy time outdoors. At the moment, the garden is overgrown, needs some TLC and requires a shaded area for the residents to sit under in their wheelchairs. I would love to be able to give the garden a big clean out, plant some new plants, add some nice pots, buy either a sail or large parasol and buy some new garden furniture (designed for people in wheelchairs to be comfortable around).

Some of the boys will also be heading to Mr Bryant's son Henry's School to do some 'sprucing up'. We went there last year, and we were able to help them out so I hope we can this year too. Below is a link to a giving page that we have set up so please, please help us out if you can - I promise every penny will go towards improving the lives of Cameron and his friends as well as allowing us to make a difference at Henry's School. Should you think you can help in a different way, or have any ideas, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me directly. We can come and collect donations and will give any company who helps us as much publicity as is humanly possible!

House Keeping

We will be emptying lockers today as the boys will no longer need them. We will also be sending some groups on a 'missing kit hunt' to try and locate any items that have been misplaced.

Leavers' Dinner

Tonight we have our Year 13 Leavers' Dinner to mark the end of what has been a fantastic school career for the boys. I am looking forward to welcoming the boys and their parents to the house this evening for lots of fun (and I'm sure a few teary eyes). I wish you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
