After a few quiet weeks, we have been a "hive" of activity this week! The main event was the junior school production of Shrek. Almost all of our Year 7 and 8 students were taking part, either centre stage or working behind the scenes with costumes, make-up and tech. I have been to see a lot of Junior productions and I can safely say that this was one of the best I have ever seen. From a House point of view, I was blown away by the singing and acting of the Lodge girls, and I could not be prouder of them. Tuesday was Familiarisation Day for the pupils joining us in September. Miss Black and I enjoyed getting to know them, completing some "all about me" hexagons for the wall, tours of the House and school grounds, and learning to play pool! We look forward to welcoming them all back after the summer holidays. Familiarisation Day was also an opportunity for me to pause and reflect on all that Mrs Spence and I have achieved in the space of a year. This time last year we did not have a House, and we had to host familiarisation day in the school library. The building we now enjoy was an empty shell in need of some TLC and furniture. Fastforward to now and we are showing girls the beautiful common room where they can relax, the peaceful quiet room is used to study in, and the girls have made their year group studies their own. What a difference a year makes! Achievements in Lodge Congratulations go to Amy G, Rosie M and Grace S for receiving their rowing colours at the Boat Club dinner last weekend; to Natalie Y for receiving the John E Bell award for commitment; and Charlotte J who was awarded Most Improved. Well done to Jessica B who has been competing all over the country in recent days in Showjumping and eventing competitions. She has also been awarded the British Eventing Spotlight Award for June for all of her efforts. Below is her recent trip to the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh. Good luck to Alyssa D as she takes part in the World Dance Championships this weekend. Finally, next week is Activities Week and the girls have a fun & educational program events ahead of them. An email about House BBQs and Sports Day should already have been sent to you but we are looking forward to celebrating our first year in style. Pre-Season Hockey and Netball Training – End of the Summer Holidays We are already looking ahead to next term and preparing for the hockey and netball season. Pre-season training sessions will be put on for all year groups. It is expected that all girls who would like to represent the school next year and those who simply want to improve their skills make every effort to attend. A letter has been sent out to all parents with a link to confirm your daughter's attendance. See details below too. Lady of Lodge This weeks Lady of Lodge is Lucy C ![]() ![]() |
