The House has been full of hustle and bustle this week as the girls get back into the swing of normal lessons and start getting their exam results. Overall, the exams went smoothly and as papers are returned it is a good opportunity for the girls to reflect on how things went, why they went that way, and how they could do things differently next time. This is particularly true for Year 7, most of who have never sat a raft of exams like this before. Miss Black, Lily and I spent time discussing our House BBQ this week. For our inaugural event we are going with a circus theme. There will be a rodeo bull, hook a duck and several other old-fashioned fairground games, no goldfish as prizes though! It is usual for everyone to come in fancy dress that fits with the theme; however, this is not compulsory. We ask that costumes are school appropriate, no short shorts or tiny crop tops, and that no one comes as a clown (I am not the only one who finds them super creepy!) More information will be sent out nearer the time. Last Friday was the Girls' Sports Dinner which I was sadly unable to attend. While I might not have been there, I have heard all about it and there are far too many Lodge girls to name but I shall name a few. Congratulations to Maggie and Eloise for being voted MVPs for the U12 netball team, Charlotte J for receiving the swimming trophy, Lucy C, Calli F, Charlotte J and Agnes P (Y9) for being part of the "Sports Team of the Year" for the U14 netball team who had an undefeated season. Lady of Lodge this week goes to Alena F. She keeps her singing talent hidden most of the time but she recently sat her singing exam and received a Distinction. Well done! Enjoy the weekend and if you get the opportunity, pop down to the Durham Regatta, several Lodge ladies will be there representing the school. Toodle pip! |
