The past four weeks constitute the shortest half term I've ever known. Intense and demanding, they have certainly kept us all on our toes with the usual DCSF combination of academic demands, lots of sports and an up-coming junior production to boot. On top of that, exams for year 11 and 13 are in full swing and all other year groups have been preparing for theirs. Quite a whirlwind! Nonetheless, I hope that girls who have been here, rather than on study leave, feel they have made a good innings with their revision, since they will certainly hit the ground running on their return. Nobody wants to start the week on the back foot on 2nd June or to end up in a sticky wicket through poor preparation, and I make no apology for the cricket vernacular! The season is now well advanced and cricket chat is in the air. This prompts me to congratulate Pimlico cricketers (Clemmie W; Alice D; Matilda C and Lucy G) whose names have frequently been on the term's team sheets: It's a pleasure to hear about their progress. I hope to see many of our girls and parents celebrating cricket, along with other sports, at the dinner on 6th June. Tickets can be purchased here. More unusual news this week comes from Hannah R. Working with Daniel Truman, no less, Hannah spent last weekend on a car racing track. We all knew Hannah was brainy, but working as an engineer and data analyst at the 'Mini' championships alongside a British superstar takes the grey cells to a whole new level! Hannah assures me she also had a lot of fun. Turning to the musical amongst us, I'm also very proud of our year 9 rising stars: Yichenxi X, Tabitha A and Francesca W will be contributing to the musical start of Prize giving and Aroa L will be playing the organ in Durham Cathedral in our afternoon service. I can't wait to hear them play! I hope to see many of you at Prize Giving, but if I don't, have a wonderful half term break. Girls Sport Dinner.
