Bungites

It is hard to believe that it is half term already as it only feels like 2 minutes since Easter! On the whole, the weather has been awesome here in School, which has meant the boys have had lots of 'outdoor time' and made the most of the school's beautiful playing fields. I have, however, had to remind a few of them that despite their protestations, they are not at 'Champions League' level and could easily smash a window with a wayward shot or a poor touch (and as I live close to the grass… this would not end well).

 Bungites Academics

There have been lots of public exams this week and I can see that the pressure has started to take its toll on a few of the seniors. The Half term can now be used to recharge batteries and finish subject revision in preparation for the home straight. Our junior years have been given their half term grades and though many were pleased, some need a strong finish to the year. Internal exam week is just after half term so please encourage the boys.

Bungites Sport

Cricket Cricket has been great this week with the lots of teams in action. Lat weekend, the 1st XI beat Barney on their own turf with George F, Oliver H, Lewis S and Rowan B representing the house. Our U15s also recorded a win with Matthew B captaining the side. Tom R scored a quick fire 20 on Tuesday against Thornhill but the 15B's couldn't edge what was a thriller of a game.

Good Luck to those Bungites who are playing in the T20 National Tournament today.

Rowing

Tees Regatta took place at the weekend and there were strong performances from all crews involved. Jason W and Simon G won the J16 4x, with Simon also winning the J15 2x.

Bungites Awards

Academic awards this week go to:

Kayode A, Adam A, Rupert A, Ethan B, Alex C, Harry D, Sam F. Max H, Rory J, Hongyi L , Evan O, Kanishk S, Robbie S, Archie S

Congratulations to all of the boys listed above.

Boarding

Our boarders have had a great week enjoying the sunshine and the light nights. As I have alluded to above, the standard of football is not quite where we want it to be though a good time has been had by all. The boys were pleased to learn that they do not need to take all of their belongings out of their rooms for half term which should speed up the packing process.

New Monitor team

My congratulations go to the following Bungites who have been made school monitors for the 2025/2026 School Year- Fergus F, Andrew S, Hedley W, Zac H, Harry W, Mason A, Johnny M. Pardeep L has been appointed as our Head of House for next year and will be supported by Andrew S and Zac H who will be his deputies. As always, some of the boys who missed out will be disappointed but I will certainly have lots for them to help with in the house and everyone can look forward to what will be a fantastic year in Bungites!

House Keeping

The arrangements for Speech Day have been sent; however, should you have any questions, please get in touch. Please note the 7pm meet time over at the Cathedral for pupils who are not staying in school and are meeting us over there.

I wish you all a restful and enjoyable half term.
