Quite incredibly, another half term is drawing to a close and with the break comes a welcome moment to take stock ahead of a busy final half term of the school year. This week, Year 3 and Y5 have ventured out on their Residential trips and have, once again, immersed themselves in the challenges with perseverance, resilience and support of each other. My thanks go to the team of staff supervising these trips over the last two weeks. Their commitment to give up time with their own families to support the development of our school pupils is very much appreciated. Pre-prep children have enjoyed their visits over to Cathedral site this week; it was lovely to see them playing and familiarising themselves with the grounds. On Wednesday, we welcomed a number of potential new families to our EYFS Teddy Bears' picnic. A lovely event which involved teddy bear themed activities, stories, and experiencing music making, as well as a lovely picnic in the Secret Garden. Thursday saw the Year 4 to 6 House Swimming Gala at Freeman's Quay. This was another great opportunity for the children to come together as a House to support and encourage participation and achievements. There were some notable performances and congratulations to Elvet, who were the winning house. This morning, Years 1 to 6 have enjoyed the end of half-term service in the Cathedral, led by Father Simon – a celebration of all the children have achieved during the last half term. The children are now preparing for this afternoon's Fun Day, organised by the School Council, which I am sure the children (and staff) will throw themselves into as they always do while raising funds for future Council projects in school. Next half term sees an amazing array of events with many opportunities for parents to come into school to share their children's progress and achievements. Please keep checking our weekly newsletters for updates. Wishing you a restful break. |
