The penultimate week of the summer half term has been another busy one. Exams have dominated the chat for our seniors, while spending every possible minute outside has been the juniors' goal! What this all means is that the house is actually quite quiet (except toast time, that never has and never will be quiet) so I have had the chance to spend a little time with some of the boys who like to keep themselves to themselves. This has provided food for thought, and I will be tasking next year's House Monitor Team with ensuring that the boys can all contribute to how the house is ran. Some of my favourite things about school happen away from the more high-profile areas of school and involve only a handful of pupils.

On a completely different note, during roll call this morning I reminded the boys that if they have been involved in anything they would like a shout out for in the Friday Flyer, to wait behind and see me; there is so much going on in School that we struggle to keep up!

Bungites Sport

Durham City Regatta

This past weekend saw Durham School Boat Club enjoy a fantastic start to the regatta season at Durham City Regatta. With sunny skies and perfect racing conditions, our crews delivered an outstanding performance across multiple events.

Highlights from Bungites included a dominant win in the J16 double by Jason W. The J16 quad, including Jason W, also secured a convincing win, showcasing excellent teamwork and power.

The J18 double of Alexander PL and Matthew W rowed a strong race to come out on top, while our J15 boys' coxed quad including Oliver OSB rounded off the weekend with another DSBC victory.

It was a fabulous weekend for the club, marked by great weather, strong performances, and promising momentum as we head further into regatta season.

Well done to all involved!

Bungites Academics

Academic awards this week go to: George B, Seb C, Jack D, Xavier J, Oliver OSB, Tom R, Kanishk S, Miles V, Joseph W

Massive well done to all of the boys listed above.

Speech Day

An email has been sent out with all of the timings for Speech Day next week and I do hope to see many of you there. It is a very special evening and one of 'the biggies' on our school calendar. Any questions or concerns with the arrangements, please email Mr Bryant or myself.

Boarding

Please can boarding parents be aware that the house will close next Friday at 9:30pm for all boarders. This is after Speech Day. Appreciate travel may be difficult to arrange, so please let me know if I can be of any help. Back to this week... It's EUROVISON!!! We are looking forward to an evening of europop on Saturday evening with Pim and Poole coming over to embrace the spectacle that is Eurovision.

Charity Work

Please keep an eye out for an email from myself and Mr Byrant next week. At the end of term (during activities week) we will be heading out to do some work in the community. We have two projects lined up, to support Mr Bryant's son, Henry, and one to support Mrs Heeley's son, Cameron. Both these projects will see us working on outdoor spaces to clean them up and improve them. More info to follow, but it would be great to get the ball rolling this weekend. The more we raise, the more we can do to improve the day to day lives of the boys and their schools. Our just giving link is below:

Housekeeping

Mullets, please can we be mindful that these are not allowed in school. I do not want standards to slip, so your support is appreciated. Come July 5th, they can fill their boots! Until then, school rules apply. Lost property is kept in reception so please direct any concerns there. Anything we find, we give back (though that does not mean we don't find the same item regularly). While it is certainly true that we want the boys to take responsibility, and rightly so, they are still teenage boys so I appreciate the frustration (as a parent, too). It seems that after games sessions is when most kit is lost (left on the field etc) so I will be asking games staff to give the boys a gentle reminder about taking belongings with them when they leave a session.

I wish you all a restful weekend.
