From the Headmistress of Chorister School
Friday, 9 May 2025

I hope all our pupils, families, and staff enjoyed a restful and enjoyable Bank Holiday Monday. The extra day gave everyone a chance to recharge before a busy and exciting week packed full of learning, discovery, and remembrance.

On Wednesday, Year 3 had a wonderful adventure to Kirkley Hall Zoo. The children loved getting up close to a variety of animals. The zoo visit was both educational and fun, giving our young learners a hands-on experience with the natural world. Meanwhile, Year 6 stepped back in time during their visit to The Story, where they took part in an immersive World War II workshop, deepening their understanding of the period.

VE Day activities across the school yesterday gave opportunity for pupils to learn and honour the sacrifices made by others for peace. Assemblies, activities and themed cupcakes at lunch all helped to contribute to a reflective day of remembrance.

Our school cricket teams were in action this week, competing in friendly matches against local schools. Both the boys and girls teams showed fantastic determination and skill on the field. Well done to all who took part—you represented our school brilliantly!

Tomorrow, I look forward to meeting prospective Choristers at Chorister Experience Day - a great opportunity to experience life as a Durham Cathedral Chorister.

Best wishes for the weekend.
