As close to a perfect start to the summer term as we could have wished for; the weather has been great, lots of cricket, the start of external exams (possibly not welcome for some!) and juniors running riot on almost every inch of the school grass! The School is transformed when the sun shines and it great to see the boys getting lots of fresh air. Bungites Academics As I alluded to above, GCSE and A Level Exams have now started so the boys in those year groups are going to be flat out for the next 8 weeks or so (depending on finish date). Study leave for year 11 begins next Wednesday (7th May) with Year 13 going on the 13th May. This being said, teachers are very much still available should they be needed and I urge all boys sitting public exams to make efficient use of their time to prepare fully. Exam week for the juniors is appearing over the half term horizon (first week back) so I would expect revision for those boys to have begun. More info on these will follow. Study Leave Year 11 - 7th May Year 13 - 9th May Bungites Cricket Absolutely loads of Cricket this week with a stand out innings by Louie M being the highlight. Fresh on the back of two centuries while on tour in Sri Lanka, Louie scored another one against the County earlier in the week- massive well done on what was an excellent innings. Lots of other good wins for our sides with the U13s restricting NSB in their pursuit of 140... Fantastic effort! Monitors (Year 12) We have begun the process of appointing next year's school monitor team this week with those interested submitting their letters of application to the Headmaster. The boys will be interviewed in the coming weeks then some very difficult decisions will need to be made as we a re blessed with a very strong field. House roles will also be decided this term and more details on that process will be with the boys soon (now that school letters are complete). Boarding The boarders are off to the beach on Sunday which almost certainly means that the weather will change! House Keeping Please could I ask that sun cream is given to the those boys who will be playing cricket or outside for any period of time. I will buy some, but this obviously won't be to hand should the boys be on a fixture. A reminder that school is closed on Monday, back open as normal on Tuesday. One final piece of Housekeeping, please could I remind parents and guardians that you should not enter the house during term time without first speaking to a member of house staff. I wish you all a restful long weekend. |
