As we gallop through the first week of the summer term, the Easter break rapidly fades into a distant memory. However, I do recall that people seemed energized on Monday and the bright-eyes, happy chatter and healthy faces were certainly signs of a decent holiday. It is a pleasure to see everyone together in the common room once again and we are delighted to welcome four new girls into our midst: Frances, year 7; Alice, year 8; Louise from France, year 10 and Lola from Germany, year 12. It seems that we were not only blessed with sunshine during the Easter break but also many exciting things to do, the JIRR Regatta being amongst them. I was pleased to hear about Bel's efforts in particular and I was impressed to see her looking so bright and chirpy on Monday, after a gruelling weekend on the river. It was also lovely to learn, whilst up in the wiles of Scotland, that some of our girls had been cavorting with Royalty, no less. The pictures below give us a glimpse of rare moments, although I know there were others who also enjoyed a few words and smiles with the King and Queen. Well done to our chorister girls who contributed to the magnificent music of the Maundy Service in the lead up to Easter. Exams As year 11s and 13s gear up for their exams, I urge them to make full use of the revision training they have received over the years: Planning and sticking to a timetable; beginning the day with the most difficult task; working with full focus (no music or phones!) for 20-30 minutes, then taking a small break; lots of reinforcement and finally, celebrating the small victories. There are a number of perfectionists in Pimlico House and it's very easy for them to spiral down the slope of self-condemnation. Realising that feelings often don't reflect reality is a helpful way of coping with the inevitable wobbles and doubts that accompany the lead-up to exams. Before I bid you a happy weekend, I'd like to shine the spotlight on Diana M. who was awarded 'Best International Student' by the late Principal, just before he left. What a wonderful parting gift from him to Diana! I, for one, will be brimming with pride when she picks up her prize in prize-giving soon; it is richly deserved. I hope the Pimlico community enjoys the up-coming, extended weekend and, to those who are revising: Stay focused, stay on track, stay positive! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
