Some Year 11 students experienced their first exams this week, with Design and Technology alongside Art and Drama taking place very early in the exam season. The Year 11 group has certainly been busy preparing revision timetables and organising their notes throughout the week.

I would like to wish all of our Year 11 students the very best of luck as they embark on study leave for their GCSE exams next week. Both Mr Thompson and I understand how hard the students have worked to reach this point, and we are confident they will perform to the best of their abilities in the upcoming exams. We want to remind everyone that we are here to support them every step of the way and wish them every success.

During study leave, students are very welcome to seek advice from subject teachers, but they are not permitted to work in the House during the day. Please note that uniform must be worn if Year 11 students are coming into school during study leave. To ensure a productive and efficient study environment, may I ask that students work in designated areas or classrooms with prior arrangement. This will ensure they have access to the necessary resources and support to help them prepare for exams.

The Royal Visit

Over the Easter holidays, Joshua M (Year 8) had the incredible honour of meeting His Majesty the King during the royal visit to Durham Cathedral. Dressed smartly for the occasion, Joshua represented the school with pride, shaking hands with the King and engaging in a brief conversation beneath the soaring arches of the historic cathedral. It was a moment he will never forget, made even more special by the grandeur of the setting and the significance of the event.

Looking ahead to next week, House and sports photographs will take place on Wednesday, and we are hoping for fine weather as the entire House gathers on Master's Green with smiling faces and smart uniforms. One of the first things visitors to the House notice is the picture frames lining the corridors, showing how the boys grow and change throughout their time at the school.

Caffinites Housekeeping

I would appreciate it if parents could refrain from wandering into the depths of the House. Students have their own door codes, and I would be very grateful if these were not used by parents to gain access. If you do need to enter, please knock on the door or use the new bell, and a member of staff will let you in.

Finally, I would also be grateful if parents could check that all school uniform and games kit is named. There has been a recent spike in cases of lost equipment, and named items are far more easily returned. Pupils were reminded during our House Assembly this week to use their lockers. Once again, the junior changing rooms remain the main problem area, with clothing left on the floor!

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend.
