Bungites

It certainly has not been a wind-down week here in school and I cannot thank the boys enough for how they have managed to maintain their effort right up to today. Lots going on so let's get going...

Bungites Academics

It would not be unfair to say that time is now very much against those in the exam groups, in particular those who have yet to begin their revision! (I appreciate no Bungites will be in this position, of course). Three weeks is a long time away from school so I urge the boys to be disciplined and use their time efficiently. Reports should be on their way to you soon (if not already) so please keep an eye out. Any issues, please contact your son's tutor.

Bungites Sport

It has been an emotional week for our senior rugby players who have played their last game for the Rugby Club. The boys put on a brilliant show of skill, power and speed up in Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon and I was fortunate enough to be there myself. All of our senior sportsmen will be in the same position when their racing and fixtures come to an end but this week is very much about our rugby players. Will M, George F, Lucas H and Jackson M have quite literally put their bodies on the line for their school and it was with glassed eyes that myself and the other Housemasters watched the final minutes. The boys won 40-20 and can look back with pride on how they have represented the school. Also great to see Dan C and Spencer S playing 1st XI Rugby and putting in stellar shifts

Rupert A has been representing the North of England in the ISFA National Football Competition down in Hertford this week and played brilliantly.  A huge well done to Rupert for what is a fantastic achievement.

There are lots of boys missing this week as they are part of a touring cricket party in Sri Lanka. From what I have heard, they boys are having a great time and enjoying learning about a different culture.

Awards

Academic awards this week go to:

Seb C, Charlie D, Jesse E, Sam F, Will G, Vincent H, James H, Marcus H,, Leo H, Mustafa H, Hongyi L, Evan M, Robbie S, Archie S, James S, Arthur T, Hayden W, Jason W

Congratulations to all of the boys listed above.

Boarding

As expected, axe throwing was a massive hit (you will see what I have done there) and they boys had a great afternoon. This week has not been quite as exciting with packing their belongings the only thing on the agenda. At the time of writing, we are around 85% ready for half term so not in a bad place! The House will open for the Summer Term at 5pm on Sunday 27th April

Marsden Public Speaking

As always, The Marsden Public Speaking final was a brilliant evening. The standard was incredibly high and it is so impressive to see our pupils stand up and speak in front if an audience. In the Junior section, Marcus H won with a fantastic speech about Japan. In the seniors, Simon C and Zac H both spoke brilliantly and, though they had completely contrasting styles, did themselves proud. Simon spoke about leadership while Zac spoke about Words- all three boys were engaging and hugely informative.

House Keeping

It is a full clean out today so apologies for the increase in washing and the many other things the boys have amassed over the term. As always, any kit with a different name on, please ask your son to message the owner on Teams- these things happen so it is no issue.

I wish you all a restful and enjoyable Easter Holiday.
