The highlight of the week was the Marsden Public Speaking competition. This is the eleventh year that the competition has been held and I can confidently say that this is the highest standard that I have seen from the competitors who took part. Genuinely they were all winners on the night and I congratulate them all for the clever, witty, and thought-provoking talks. Particular mention for Dana Simpson who had to cope with the challenge of the fire alarm not once but twice during her speech. Mixed emotions this week for the U6 rugby players as their time playing for the 1st XV came to an end with a well-deserved win over Edinburgh Academy. There will be the opportunity for them to celebrate their season next term at the annual rugby dinner, and of course, I should mention the special event to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the Rugby Club in October. I am sure they and many others who have played the game over the years will enjoy the opportunity to reminisce about their adventures on the pitch. My end of term letter should follow today but as I write my final Friday Flyer I would like to thank the Development team, House staff, and others who put the Flyer together every week. I know it is appreciated by you as parents and it gives you a great insight into the busy life of the school. I hope you all have a well-deserved break. |
