The Caffinites
Friday, 28 March 2025

As we approach the final week of the Spring term, this past week has been an incredibly eventful one, filled with various activities and achievements across the school.

Caffinites Sport

One of the standout events was the National Schools Sevens Rugby Tournament at Rosslyn Park, where our 1st Team, U16s, and U14s travelled to London to compete against some of the best school teams in the country.

Our 1st team put in a commendable effort, successfully progressing out of their group stages with strong performances throughout the first day on Monday. However, in a dramatic and closely contested knockout match in the qualification for the second day, they unfortunately lost after conceding a try in extra time to The King's School, Worcester. Despite the heartbreak, the team showcased outstanding resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship; qualities that truly define a rugby team!

The U16 squad put in an impressive display as well, battling their way through the tournament with determination. Their standout performance came in the knockout stages, where they secured a 17-5 victory over St Paul's School, demonstrating excellent attacking flair and solid defensive display. Their journey may have ended before the latter stages, but their efforts were a testament to their hard work and preparation.

The U14s showed great promise in their first experience of the National Sevens stage. They finished second in their group, winning two matches and losing one, narrowly missing out on qualification for the next round.

A huge congratulations to all the Caffinites boys who took part, representing the school with pride and determination.

Parents Drinks

This evening, both Mr Thompson and I look forward to welcoming parents to our annual Parents' Drinks, taking place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. This event is a fantastic opportunity for parents to come together in a relaxed and informal setting, enjoy some refreshments, and engage in conversation with both staff and fellow parents. Whether you are catching up with familiar faces or meeting new members of our House community, the evening promises to be a wonderful occasion.

I look forward to seeing everyone there and sharing an enjoyable evening together!

Cross Country Event

On Monday afternoon (31st March), we will be running our annual House Cross Country event. The event will be a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their determination, teamwork, and house spirit. This year, we are running in support of Diabetes UK, and I have encouraged all of the boys in the House to seek sponsorship to help raise funds for this important cause.

Please can I ask that sponsorship forms and any money raised are handed to me as soon as possible. If you would prefer to go paperless, donations can also be made via our JustGiving page:

The Caffinites House is fundraising for Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation

A huge thank you to parents and family members who have already generously contributed. Your support makes a real difference, and the boys greatly appreciate it!

Caffinites House Keeping

I would like to take a moment to remind parents of the importance of punctuality, as it has become a concern for some individuals. Being on time sets the tone for a productive day and ensures that pupils do not miss any key notices, discussions, or activities. Please can I ask that your child arrives in the House for roll call at 8.25pm to allow for a smooth start to the day. Persistent lateness not only disrupts routine but can also have a wider impact on the House community.

Additionally, if your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please can you let me know asap. This helps keep accurate records and ensures we can provide any necessary support.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this in maintaining high standards of punctuality and attendance.

Looking ahead to the end of term next week, I would be grateful if you could encourage your son(s) to empty their lockers and take ALL their belongings home.

On a separate note, please be aware that the House will close at 4.30pm on Friday 4th April. Have a great weekend Mr A. McMillan
