Junior Inter Regional Regatta Trials Last weekend, the Junior Inter Regional Regatta Trials for the Northern rowing team took place. A number of pupils from the school competed, including Charlotte J (Yr 9), Amy G, Rosie M, Grace S and Natalie Y (Yr 11P) from Lodge House. All the girls put on a fantastic display of their rowing capabilities and did the club and school proud. The Year 11 girls (listed above) all secured a place in the Northern Team and will represent the team in April at the National Water sports Centre in Nottingham. Chadeyron Music Competition This week, the annual Chadeyron music competition took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, testing the skills and musical capabilities of a number of pupils in different categories. The following categories had winners from Lodge House: Chadeyron Instrumental Competition; Highly Commended - Hilda C (Yr 12) Intermediate Instrumental; Winner – Freya M (Yr 11) Elementary Guitar and Drum Kit; Highly Commended - Charlotte J (Yr 9) Well done to all who took part. Weekly goings on On Wednesday evening, Mrs Fordyce took the Year 7 girls to Infinite Air, the trampoline park, and it is safe to ay that had a blast! As always, it was a good opportunity to spend time with the girls outside of school and for them to let off some steam and have fun. As expected, the behaved impeccably. Hilda, Natalie and Alexandra (Yr 12/13) took part in the first half of their First Aid course, organised through 'Med Soc'. Hilda has been working hard this year to build and shape the Medical Society, working closely with teachers and students of similar interests to create a place where they can discuss ideas around medicine, science and debate interesting ideas or subjects within their meetings. Thursday morning was our weekly LWE (Life and Wellbeing Education) session. The day marked National Happiness Day and to put a fun twist on the LWE content, we decided to play human bingo! All the girls had a sheet full of characteristics e.g. 'Doesn't like pizza' or 'has a twin' and they had to go around asking the girls information about each other to complete the bingo card. I am confident we all learnt something new about members of Lodge House and the activity got everyone talking and mingling. There are a number of girls on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition this weekend – my thoughts are with them and fingers crossed they don't get any blisters! A hard but rewarding experience and where lots of memories are created! Good luck! Charity events On Saturday the 29th there is the opportunity for 15 girls to go to the Donkey Sanctuary in Chester Le Street to meet our adopted Donkey, Raindrop! The session will be at the sanctuary where the workings of the programme will be told to us and the girls will have chance to get stuck in and help! The session is 12-2pm and we will be traveling by minibus – please get in touch if you require more information. The girls have been asked to put their name on a sign-up sheet of they wish to attend. To mark the end of the term and to conclude our fundraising for St Cuthbert's Hospice, the girls have organised a few more events before we break up. This includes an Easter Egg raffle where we are selling strips of tickets for £1 for the chance to win some chocolatey prizes! Raffle is drawn on Wednesday the 2nd of April. The Year 13's are organising an Easter Hunt on the school grounds on Thursday 3rd of April where pupils are to find the Easter Bunnies – 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes up for grabs! After half term we are hosting a VE Day Afternoon Tea Party on Friday 9th May in Lodge House garden! This will be a fun social event for Lodge House girls, parents and staff, where tea, cake, games, music and a raffle will all be in abundance. Tickets are £5 and all proceeds go to the Zambezi Sunrise Trust. Please could I ask for any contributions to the raffle to be handed to Lodge House staff by Friday 2nd May – Thank you! This will be our last big charity push for the year and I just want to say how amazingly the girls have done will all the events and socials so far - thank you so much for your support!
