The Caffinites
Friday, 21 March 2025

As a member of the staff team, it's always pleasing to see the boys who achieve but most importantly, it drives others on to emulate what they do. If you spend enough time doing one thing, you get better at it, and these three boys have certainly done that in their chosen fields. Ajay E and Patrick H are veterans of the international camp selection scene but Alec T in Year 11 has been selected for his first international camp by the Great Britain Rowing Team over Easter.

Chadeyron Music Competition

The Chadeyron Music Competition is one of the longest running competitions in the school and therefore is one of the most prestigious. I am glad to report that we have already a healthy Caffinite presence in the competition but also some winners.

Congratulations to Akshan A, George M and Joshua M following their wins in the junior section. The final rounds of the senior competition take place later and the results will follow shortly.

Junior Inter-Regional Team Trials

The Junior Inter-Regional Team trials took place in Ashington last weekend and I am pleased to say that the following Caffinites have been successful and go on to represent the Northern Region at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham:

Matthew W (Year 8)

Gustav B and James W (Year 11)

Alec T (Year 11)

As I saw what happened on the day, special mention must also go to Dominic G (Year 9) and James W (Year 8) for their amazing coxing, as the course isn't the easiest to navigate, they showed skill and control in their respective boats.

International Day of Happiness

It is always interesting asking pupils what makes them happy and our LWE topic in tutor time this week on Thursday was just that. The International Day of Happiness was on Thursday this week and my Year 8 tutor group found it relatively easy to answer the top 10 things that made them happy.

Have a great weekend.
