The highlight of the week across both sites has undoubtedly been World Book Day, where we all dressed up as an adjective. I was delighted to see how much thought and imagination had gone into choosing words and outfits. The impressive range of descriptive language on display in 4J alone included: Glittery, Creepy, Comfy, Sleepy, Lazy, Magical, Brave, Cool, Sporty, Happy, Adventurous, Wolfish, Christmassy, Athletic, Skilful, Wicked, Fuming, Magnificent, Strong. I can only describe this list as amazing! The importance of choosing words carefully was explored further at Cathedral site Celebration Assembly this morning where my closing message was "Every word you speak has the power to hurt or heal". All children in Years 3 to 6 have taken part in activities to support their learning this week – Year 3 went to Jarrow Hall, Year 5 to Beamish Museum and Years 4 and 6 had a delicious and informative visit from La Petite Creperie. At the Bow site, the children have enjoyed the fabulous stories of Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Sanderson, our own resident authors. This afternoon we say good luck to our Junior Choir and Young Singers as they sing at Ryton Festival. We wish them the best and hope they join the impressive number of Chorister School children who have already been successful in their individual classes which have been taking place over the last two weeks. Finally, staff are all very much looking forward to tomorrow's Open Morning which will be the first time we come together as a team on one site. |
