The first week of a very short term is already under our belts and, in true Durham School style, it has flown by. Due to everything going on this week the house has actually been quite quiet! Of course, this is relative so I would expect that not many would agree. By far the biggest news of the week has been that the Student Wi-Fi has been down. As you can imagine, this has led to widespread panic; however, for me, it has been great because it has meant the boys have had to communicate and 'manage' as most of us did- without Wi-Fi! Luckily the weather has been good so the boys have been outside on the playground or up at the astro turf playing football (I am keeping my eye out for a left sided player who could help Newcastle on the 16th March!!!).

Academic at School House

I hope the year 13 mock exams have gone well and I am sure the boys are pleased to be finished. It would not be unfair to say that quite a few of the boys have underestimated the challenge so I hope that lessons have been learnt. This being said, the mocks a very much designed to give the boys a little idea of what the summer exam pressure will be like and I can confidently say this knowledge has been gained. As I said at the end of last term, should any parent or guardian have any queries with academic matters tutors are here to help and support.

Sport at School House

Lots of 7s this week with teams out representing the school across the North East. On Tuesday the U14s were down at St Peter's with strong Bungite representation. Freddy R, Archie M, Alfie S and Barney W. The boys played some good rugby and there was much to take from the day. On Wednesday, the U15s and U18s were down at Ampleforth, The U15s reached the ¼ final of their competition while the U18s reached the semi final of theirs. Some good performances on the day with Tom R, Emile B and Simon G playing well for the 15s and Dan C and Jackson M playing well for the 18s. Our U13s played up at Northern yesterday winning all their games with some outstanding performances from Bungites, Robbie S, Hongyi L, Max H, Rupert A, Kayode A and James H.

Rowing this weekend will be training and prepping for Junior Inter Regional trials next weekend.
