The week seems to have flown by here at DCSF and as ever, we were back with the usual range of activities at the school. The Upper Sixth returned of course to mock examinations and they seem to have gone well; early indications from the staff I have spoken to are that there are some very good performances which is encouraging at this stage. Results and feedback will be given to the pupils when they return next week and there is an important parents evening coming up on March 18th. This part of the year tends to see the various "weeks" kicking into action: this week has been Reading Week and the English department, as well as others, has put on a wide range of reading activities for the pupils as well as the ever-popular World Book Day yesterday. The most popular theme this year seemed to be the Midnight Gang and I never knew David Walliams had so many pyjama-wearing fans…. Next week sees Science Week arrive and again there is a great range of fun activities for the pupils in store. This weekend sees our regular Open Day take place and we have had a record number of sign ups for the day. The weather looks set fair and I trust that your children know which roles they will be carrying out on the day. I am looking forward to meeting prospective parents tomorrow and I am sure they will enjoy meeting your sons and daughters. Finally, rehearsals are in full swing for Pygmalion next week and there are still some tickets remaining. Please do come along if you can as it promises to be a great show. |
