From the Principal

We are well and truly gearing up for end of term events now and I know that you have received a letter from Mrs Rochester about arrangements for House Suppers etc. Another event which takes place next week is our termly Presentation Assembly which is on Monday. There is always a huge amount to celebrate at these assemblies and the achievements which the pupils have made over the term never fail to amaze. The opportunity for them to be recognised in assembly, and often to come up to the front to rapturous applause, is one which I know means a lot to them. I'm looking forward to it.

One achievement which will be recognised is the success our pupils enjoyed in the Bebras Computational Thinking competition which was organised by Oxford University. It is the first time we have taken part and of the 200 students who competed, 25 have been highlighted as in the top ten percent nationally. We also had the top scores in County Durham over many of our year groups. Furthermore our girls who took part in the GCHQ cyber challenge competition did extremely well and we were placed in the top 10 of independent schools in the country. Many thanks to Mrs Fox who organised both of these and congratulations to our pupils on their success.

Finally, the best of luck to the pupils who are taking part in our last fixtures of the term this weekend. It's been a fantastic term for sport both from a participation and achievement point of view, and thanks to all of the parents who support the children in all of their sporting activities.
