Lodge House
Friday, 6 December 2024

This week has been another busy one for Lodge House and we prepare for the end of term. As always, there has been a plethora of activities and events which showcase the girls' talents, teamwork, and festive spirit.

Last night was the school's Winter Concert which was certainly a highlight and where many of the Lodge House girls shone on stage. This annual event is a celebration which offers students the chance to showcase their musical and performance abilities while celebrating the festive season. Alexa, Penelope, Lucy, Grace, Hilda and Amelie all took part whether singing in the choir, performing solo pieces, or playing in the orchestra. The talent and hard work of the girls were evident in every performance. Well done girls.

Last night also saw the Senior Rowing Christmas dinner which took place in Durham. There were around 20 pupils who went to the event and celebrated the season coming to a close, and the successes that came with it. The Rowing Captains handing out various prizes and awards and 'The Most Committed' going to our very own Natalie Y (Yr 11). Well done, Natalie.

Yesterday also saw the first Netball match on the school calendar for the Year 7 and 8 pupils. Facing tough opposition, the girls demonstrated determination and teamwork, winning one game and being defeated in another. The defeat did not dampen their spirits, and all the girls came back with a sense of pride or a story to tell! Maggie, Lottie, Eloise, Aliha, Estee, Mia all took part in the mini tournament and Maggie and Estee were awarded the Man of The Match for their excellent sporting contributions to the games.

As the term draws to a close, preparations for the traditional House Suppers have been well underway. This much-loved event is a highlight in the school calendar, bringing the house together to celebrate achievements, create memories, spend quality time together and enjoy the beginning of the festive season.

This week, the Monitor Team have been busy planning and organising the event to ensure the evening is a memorable success – we hope they all enjoy it when the time comes!

Tonight, we welcome parents and guardians into Lodge House for festive mince pies and mulled wine – we look forward to seeing our parent community and once again getting into the festive spirit! Thank you all for your continued support.

As the term nears its conclusion, this week serves as a reminder of the strength of Lodge House's values: teamwork, creativity, and perseverance. With the House Suppers just around the corner, it is certain that the girls will continue to shine as they round off an exceptional term.

Lady of Lodge

This week's Lady of Lodge goes to two very talented ladies, Penelope and Alexa, who have showcased their skills in Cathedral last weekend during their solo performances and in the Winter Concert. Penelope also played her clarinet in last Friday's Chapel service which was both brave and beautiful.
