From the Cathedral Choristers

The Advent Processions which are a highlight for all involved in, were very well attended last weekend. The solos were covered by a number of Choristers and their hard work paid off in both services. For some it was their first ever solo in this service, and for the Y8s it was their last Advent Procession solos. All the music in these services is beautiful, but the Langlais 'Sanctus' and the Byrd 'Vigilate' stood out to me both nights, closely followed by Steel's 'People Look East'. Rehearsals are underway for Britten's Ceremony of Carols on 14th December. This is something new for the Choristers this Christmas, and the music is stunningly beautiful. Outside of the Cathedral the Choristers have been busy preparing for the school Christmas concerts which are always fun events. Please can I ask that all Choristers bring their coat and water bottle with them every day. |
