From the Headmistress of Chorister School
Saturday, 30 November 2024

We are in the season of coughs, sniffles and stomach bugs – perhaps exacerbated by the varying temperatures we are experiencing; nevertheless, the winter viruses are definitely doing the rounds at the moment! Please remember to ensure that your child has their coat every day and, on Games' days, a change of clothing in case they get wet out on the Sports field. In school, we are encouraging hygiene and handwashing but if your child does have a stomach bug or high temperature, please ensure you follow the 48-hour rule. This is to help protect all members of our school community.

The weather has impacted the sports programme recently but, this week, Y6 travelled to Dame Allan's for a Rugby festival; all played well with Ibrahim and James receiving rugby laces for displaying the RFU core values. On Thursday, all Year 3 and some Year 4 played Hockey and Rugby against Aysgarth; this was the first U8 Hockey fixture - a great effort by all. Next week sees the eagerly awaited House Hockey and Rugby Competitions.

Both sites have enjoyed assemblies from visiting speakers this week; Ms Thompson, Deputy Head Pastoral (DS) visited Bow to talk to the children about keeping themselves safe. At Cathedral site, Mrs Eales shared the traditions and history of Thanksgiving in the USA. Thank you to them both for their time.

As the weekend brings the start of Advent, our Choristers are busily preparing for a full weekend of Advent Procession services; a wonderful start for all to experience the start of the festive period. In school, the trees have arrived, thank you once again to Mr and Mrs Walker at Poplar Garden Centre for their kind donation. The trees on both sites are looking resplendent with our school community's decorations; it's not too late to bring one in!.
