Bungites
Friday, 15 November 2024

It has been another busy week in Bungites with lots happening and boys travelling around the North East to represent the school. For us, Music Rehearsals have dominated the week though there have also been block fixtures, Drama rehearsals and two evenings of debating.

Academic

It was great to see so many Year 8 parents on Tuesday for Parents' Evening for what I hope was a useful evening. Please contact Mr Clayton should you have anything you would like him to follow up. For our seniors, coursework deadlines in Art and Design are appearing on the horizon so the boys must make good use of their own time.

Music

As you all know, House Music is next Monday evening and starts at 7pm over in the Cathedral (tickets available online). The boys will stay with us after school (letter with arrangements should be in your inbox from Mrs Rochester) and will be free to collect once the competition has finished. The house will close for day pupils at 9:30pm and please note that there will be no School buses. If you are collecting your son from Cathedral, please email me and let me know. I am sure it will be a fantastic evening and a showcase of all that is good in our house system.

Sport

It has been great to see lots of Bungites representing the school across the age groups this week with lots of home games to take in. I watched the U16s and the second XV against RGS with both games being competitive and a good watch. For the 2nd XV, Hedley W was Man of the Match and for the U16 XV, Spencer S was man of the match. Spencer is also inline to make his 1st XV debut tonight, so we wish him well. Our juniors had a tough afternoon over at RGS yesterday and I know the boys felt they could have done better. This evening, we are heading up to Kingston Park to watch the 1st XV play RGS Newcastle in what is always a great game. I will be taking all of our boarders up to watch and have told them to wrap up warm (if you are heading along to watch, and have never been to Kinston Park under the lights, it will be sub zero and windy... It always is!)

Awards

Academic awards this week go to: Rowan B, Adam A, George B, Andrew C, Charlie D, Daniel E, Sam F, Fergus F, Karan G, Will G, Jia Wei H, Oliver H, Lucas H, Rory J, Steven L, Louie M, Jackson M, Oliver N, Oliver OSB, Harry P, Dreddy R, Alsie S, Lewis S, Spencer S, Barney W, Harry W, Hayden W, Jason W and Thomas X. Congratulations to all of the boys listed above.

Boarding

The boys are off ice-skating in Newcastle this weekend as Christmas Activities around the North East ramp up. As I mentioned above, most of the boys will be out watching the rugby this evening with a small group remaining in school to attend a Durham University Debate.

House Keeping

The boys all have their new hoodies so please feel free to label your sons! In fairness, of the many bits of kit that get left lying around we have yet to find one of those, funny that! End of term plans are being drawn up (I know!!!) so please keep an eye out for end of term arrangements. On a completely different note, please could I ask that parents coming on site do not enter the house without being accompanied by a member of staff. Please head to reception to sign in and Andre will find one of us. I wish you all a restful and enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing some of you up at Kingston Park.
