Welcome Back! We hope all our pupils and their families had a restful and enjoyable two-week half-term break. Many of our pupils took advantage of the time off, with some going on holiday and soaking up the last rays of autumn sun. It was great to see everyone back with renewed energy and ready for the term ahead! Our annual House Music competition is just around the corner, and the excitement is building! Rehearsals have ramped up this week, with pupils dedicating their time and efforts to perfecting their performances. This year, The Caffinites is aiming to set the bar high, showcasing our musical talent with enthusiasm and unity. Thanks to all pupils and staff who are putting in the extra hours to make this event a success. Our 1st team put in a tremendous effort against QEGS Wakefield in the national cup, narrowly missing out on victory with a score of 31-22. The match was intense and showcased the skill and sportsmanship of our team. Despite the loss, they boys showed resilience and determination throughout. Well done to the team for representing the school with pride! A big congratulations to our U16s, who comfortably beat Sedbergh on Wednesday afternoon. This impressive win is a testament to their dedication and teamwork. Keep up the great work. Our youngest teams, the U12s and U13s, travelled to Yarm yesterday for their annual fixture. Their enthusiasm and passion for the game was evident, and it was a fantastic experience for them to compete away from home. Invitations will be sent out in the coming weeks for a parents' drinks reception on Friday 24th January. The event is a fantastic way of meeting the House staff in an informal environment and a way of establishing faces to names. The event starts at 7pm and should conclude at approximately 9.30pm. Thank you to the parents that have already responded but if you would like to attend, please could you RVSP to my email; a.mcmillan@dcsf.org.uk Due to staff and pupil commitments, our Year 7 Burger and Film night will now take place on Tuesday 3rd December. Mrs. Gordon, Mr. Thompson, and I are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to spend quality time with the Year 7 boys. The evening will start at 4:30pm and conclude at 6:15pm I kindly ask that the boys come dressed in comfortable clothing. Additionally, if they wish to bring along any sweets or popcorn, please feel free to do so; we encourage a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. As we move forward into term, it's wonderful to see the House spirit alive and well in The Caffinites House. From music to sports, our students continue to impress with their talents, teamwork, and resilience. Dates for your calendar: On Monday 18th November will see the boys take part in our annual House Music competition, where each House has been tasked to sing two songs. Tickets can purchased here: https://tickets.dcsf.org.uk On Wednesday 11th December, the junior year groups (Years 7 – 10) will have their Christmas lunch followed by presentations and activities in the House. Once again, this will take place during the school today so normal pick time will apply. On Thursday 12th December, the senior year groups (Years 11 – 13) will have their House suppers. The evening will start straight after school, but I will communicate specific timings in due course. The senior boys have decided to have a black-tie evening but with a twist! The twist being a red bow tie as opposed to a black one. Therefore, could I please ask that your son brings either a dinner or a plain black suit for the evening. Normal school uniform will be sufficient should there be any problems obtaining the above. In addition to this, school uniform will also be needed for academic lessons throughout the day. On Friday, 13th December, the school will hold its annual Christmas Carol Service. This is a compulsory event for all pupils and will start at 5:30 pm. More details will be distributed by Mrs. Rochester in the weeks leading up to the end of the term. Have a great weekend,
Mr. A McMillan |
