Weekly goings on

Welcome back one and all! Straight back to it with big smiles on our Lodge House busy bees! As we move into the second half term the girls seem settled in to school and Lodge House life, and apart from the occasional lost piece of games kit(!), the girls seem to be finding their feet and used to the routines which is great to see.

Finishing touches have been happening on the house as we prepare for the official opening of Lodge on Thursday the 14th of November 5:00pm – 6:30 pm; we look forward to seeing you there. The House is certainly a place that the girls are happy in and are proud of, which is so lovely to see.

This week, rehearsals have started for the school production of Pygmalion which will take place in March next year in our own Luce Theatre. A lot of the girls are involved throughout the different year groups, and I look forward to seeing the show come together and take shape. Freya M (Year 11) is involved with the set design and stage management of the production and her creativity and superb organisation skills are well suited for this role. Amy and Grace (Year 11) are stepping up into some bigger parts this year and I'm sure they will shine on the stage in March. As a great theatre practitioner once said; 'There are no small parts, just small actors', everyone involved in the show truly makes it special and as I glimpsed in at a rehearsal today the ensemble's creation of the bustling streets of Victorian England was credit to this.

This week has also seen a lot of House Music rehearsals and as the competition date draws near, the rehearsal schedule is building up. With some positive feedback from the music department today, the girls should be proud of what they are producing and there is time for it to only get better! I will continue to share the important statement of being small but fierce as although we may be short on numbers compared to the other houses, I only wish for the girls to go out there and do their best and show them what we've got! I strongly and genuinely believe that events like this are brilliant at building character and resilience whilst working in a team. Please do encourage the girls at home to continue to push themselves and work towards this common goal; I know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but by standing together we stand taller.

This afternoon, the school gathered to remember all those that have lost their lives in conflict, in our Remembrance Service. This is always a touching and poignant service which allows us to gather, reflect and remember. Whilst doing this, by holding the pictures of past pupils who had fought and lost their lives, there is a certain reality and realisation to our service that creates a unique atmosphere.

Lady of Lodge

This weeks Lady of Lodge goes to Amy G (Year 11) who is constantly showing bravery and determination. However, what really stood out this week was steering a Quad through Elvet Bridge for the first time and executing it beautifully. Well done, Amy, keep it up!
