MacLeod House
Friday, 8 November 2024

It has been a fast a furious first week back after half term and the dark evenings are certainly drawing in. A few reminders for after school and general admin:

  • Girls may visit the tuck shop in Big School after school but must but back in MacLeod by 4.45pm to complete prep before being collected.
  • Girls attending clubs should inform the member of staff on duty where they are going and what time they are due back in house before collection.
  • All girls must sign out when departing. • Please ensure all school uniform and games kit is named.
  • Please ensure your daughter has warm winter coat (not branded) as the weather deteriorates.

Thank you to Jess, Dana and Niamh who did the readings in chapel this evening for the Remembrance Service – well done, girls.

Year 8 Tutor
Mrs Thompson will be off school for the next 3-4 weeks, and Mr Potts has taken over as the tutor for that year group temporarily. Please continue to send any absences to l.myers-bruin@dcsf.org.uk but Mr Potts will be the first port of call for other queries until Mrs Thompson's return d.potts@dcsf.org.uk

House Music

The annual House Music competition is fast approaching and due to be a fiercely contested event! Rehearsals have been going well and my thanks go to our wonderful Sixth Form team who have taken the lead on this: Caitlin, Parnia and Kate. The competition takes place on Monday 18th November in Durham Cathedral – parents are welcome to attend and buy tickets from https://tickets.dcsf.org.uk

The competition starts at 6.30pm and ALL GIRLS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Girls will be onsite from 4.20pm and have tea at school (no charge). There will be final rehearsals and then we will walk over to Cathedral for the competition. I would encourage parents to collect from there at 9-9.15pm but if you would prefer to collect your daughter from MacLeod, she must be collected by 9.30pm at the LATEST.

MacLeod Christmas Raffle

As part of our House fundraising this year we are seeking donations for our Christmas Raffle. There will be 2 types of hamper up for grabs, adult hampers and ones aimed at teenagers (both boys and girls). Please refer to the flyer sent home with the girls before half term for ideas. We would really like all members of MacLeod to contribute in some way, by either making donations for the hampers or by buying tickets. Last year we made 8 hampers and raised £1885 which was unbelievable! We would very much like to equal that, if not beat it, this year! All proceeds raised will be split between our House Charity, the Winnie Mabaso Foundation, and MacLeod.

Please bring any donations into MacLeod as soon as possible. Many thanks in anticipation!!
